Palm OS Applications
The Palm operating system has supported the open source ideals since the foundations of the company. They have released their API for writing Palm OS applications for free for any developer who are interested. The tools used to compile and build Palm OS applications are all open source.
Yet, a majority of Palm OS applications are either commercial or shareware and very few actually give the source code to the community to study and improve. Aona Systems would like to change this behavior and encourage other developers to open source their applications. We would like other Palm OS developers to open source their projects when they can either no longer support them or are no longer interested in the project. Let the Palm OS open source community give a chance for these projects to live on.
Here at Aona Systems we are changing our company focus to computer security and custom software development. We still strongly believe that the Palm OS based devices are the best out there and that Palm devices still have a bright future with all the research currently being done by Access Ltd. But, rather then letting a bulk of our Palm OS applications to continue to age slowly until they are useless we decided to open source them, as well as make them free of charge, so people may once again grow the projects and become excited about their possibility. Our current offerings are:
-

Jewelbox - an addicting game of falling colored pieces. Different gaming modes, better sound, and smoother graphics are all possible improvements that could breath some life back into this game.
-

Mood Stats - one our our most praised pieces of software. This application can help people with mental illness or who are going through a tough time keep track of their progress of feeling better. I hope the open source nature of this project along with no cost for the binaries of the software will put this valuable tool into more patient's hands who need it.
-

Fortune - everyone loves the clever wisdom of a fortune cookie. This small application brings that icon of Chinese food to the palm of your hand. Adding the ability to insert new fortunes into the rotations would be a great start to making this fun program a little more useful.
-

Sleep - this program started life as a small hack to make an old Sony Clie usable again by mapping the device's power button to one of the quick launch keys. Hopefully, by providing the code and compiled binaries to a much larger community, we can get this application working on every Palm device in existence.
We welcome any bug reports and patches from those in the community that are willing to provide them. All our code is released under the GNU GPL version 2 license which basically asks those who use our code to give us the changes they make if they wish to distribute them.
Please send bug reports to bugs@aonasystems.com or submit a description of the issue to our contact form available by clicking here.
Patches are always welcome from the community, preferably generated with the GNU diff command using the "-u" flag. Please email these patches, with information about which project they are for and what they add, change, or fix to patches@aonasystems.com and your patch should be accepted if all the changes look good.
