Aona Systems is a strong believer in the open source software development process and the quality of open source applications. It is our hope to open source as much of our in-house developed software as possible. Our current open source offerings can be viewed here:

How can Aona Systems expect to stay in business by giving away our work? There are many proven business models and benefits to open source that we will consider:

• Selling services - Many of our products are actually services that we provide on-demand to our clients. We can release the software powering parts of these services without putting our business in jeopardy.

• Reduced development costs - By incorporating features developed at no cost to our company by our users we can save both development time and money.

• Reduced support costs - When a technical user can look at the source code, often they will not only report a bug they discover but also send a solution to the bug or other valuable information with the bug report.

• Strengthening communities - By providing high quality software to our various user communities, such as Palm OS users, we straighten the demand for our other products we sell to that community.
